The designed service life of a Raycus 6000W fiber laser (such as RFL‑C6000X) is more than 100,000 hours.

I. Service Life Calculation (by Working Conditions)

  • Theoretical life: 100,000 hours ≈ 11.4 years of continuous operation
  • Single-shift operation (8 hours/day, 250 days/year):
    100,000 ÷ (8 × 250) = 50 years (theoretical value)

Actual industrial service life:

  • Favorable conditions (constant temperature, dust‑free, medium‑low power, regular maintenance): 8–12 years
  • Normal cutting (8–10 hours/day, frequent full‑power operation): 6–8 years
  • Severe conditions (24‑hour full load, cutting high‑reflectivity materials): 3–5 years (obvious power attenuation)

II. Service Life Evaluation Standard

In the industry, a laser is generally considered to have reached the end of its effective service life when its output power drops to 70%–80% of its original power.
  • First 3 years: Stable power, very slow attenuation
  • 3–5 years: Slow attenuation (approximately 2%–5% per year)
  • 5–8 years: Accelerated attenuation, reduced cutting efficiency
  • Over 8 years: Increased failure rate and higher maintenance costs

III. Key Factors Affecting Service Life

Heat Dissipation & Environment

  • Must be operated in a constant‑temperature environment (15–25°C), dust‑free and dry
  • Stable water cooling system, regular water replacement and descaling

Operating Intensity

  • Avoid long‑term 100% full‑power operation
  • Reduce frequent startup and shutdown (inrush current may damage pump sources)

Cutting Materials

  • Cutting high‑reflectivity materials such as copper, aluminum, and stainless steel accelerates aging

Maintenance

  • Regular cleaning of lenses, nozzles and filters
  • Stable power supply and surge protection
